St. Anthony Sand Dunes Group Lodging: Where To Stay With Trailers, Toy Haulers, And 20+ Riders
The dunes are about 15 minutes from the lodge. The riders sleep here. The riding happens on the sand, not the lawn.
Park the haulers at Three Peaks. Ride at the Saint Anthony Sand Dunes, about 15 minutes up the road. A crew of 20 or more fits without splitting houses — the lodge sleeps 40 — and dinner is in a commercial kitchen instead of a parking lot. You do not ride the lawn.
The dunes are a big BLM area. Warm months are OHVs. Winter turns the same hills into sledding and snowmobiling, which is a different trip from the Island Park trails 30 minutes north of the lodge. Fees and access change. Read the BLM page before you promise thirty people a line on the sand.
What You Are Booking, And What You Are Not
You are booking a private 9,600 sq ft lodge on 100 acres in Saint Anthony: ten bedrooms, a bunkroom, six bathrooms, and exclusive use, so another group is not in the kitchen when you get back sandy. The playrooms matter when a wind day ends the riding at two.
You're booking the house and the parking conversation, then driving to the sand to ride. A dune-side campground is a different product, and the lodge grounds aren't a riding area. House rules are plain about machines. Load up, drive about 15 minutes, and ride where the BLM says you can.
Trailers, Toy Haulers, And Two Hookups
Ask about parking the way you ask about beds. Put the count in the inquiry: how many trailers, how long, toy haulers or not, and whether anyone expects power. Winter groups already park 10 or more snowmobile trailers here. Dune weekends should use the same honesty.
- Trailer parking is part of the conversation with Dave, not a guess you make from a photo.
- Water and 30-amp power cover up to two RVs. That is two.
- A toy hauler can sit in the lot. It cannot become extra bedrooms past 40 overnight guests.
- Fuel, belts, and water for the sand day come from town. Dune-side services won't feed a crew this size.
How A Weekend With 20 Riders Actually Runs
Grocery in Rexburg, about 15 minutes away, or in Idaho Falls on the way from the airport. Name one dunes captain for fuel, flags, and who is allowed on which machine, so the host is not the only person with the map. Ride in the morning. Sand, kids, and wind fill an afternoon faster than the plan does.
Dinner is at the lodge. One adult stays back with anyone who is not riding. The playrooms are why that person is not stuck in a parking lot. In winter you can sled the dunes or pivot to Island Park, about 30 minutes north, and still sleep in the same house. Grand Targhee is about an hour if the trip grows a ski day.
The money is the same whole-lodge rate as any other overnight stay. Fall–spring weekdays are $900, which is $45 a person at 20 riders and $22.50 at 40. Empty beds don't lower the rent. Tell Dave the rider count and the trailer count together. If you're over 40 overnight, say that before anyone hitches up.
Questions People Ask
Where should a group stay for the St. Anthony Sand Dunes?
Three Peaks Lodge is about 15 minutes from the dunes and sleeps up to 40, so a crew of 20 or more can stay in one house with a real kitchen. It beats splitting the group across campsites when you want beds and a shared dinner.
Can trailers and toy haulers park at the lodge?
Yes, with a count. Winter groups already park 10 or more trailers here. Tell Dave how many you are bringing, how long they are, and whether anyone expects to plug in. Water and 30-amp power cover up to two RVs, not every hauler.
Can we ride OHVs on the lodge property?
No. House rules prohibit ATVs and snowmobiles on the lodge grounds. Ride at the dunes, on BLM land, under current BLM rules. Park at the lodge and drive to the sand.
