Best Family Reunion Venues In Eastern Idaho: How To Compare Large-Group Lodges
Over thirty people, the venue question is simple: can everyone sleep in one house? Most places in Eastern Idaho cannot say yes.
The best family reunion venue in Eastern Idaho is the one that can put your people in one house. Past about thirty guests, that list gets short. A hotel block can hold the headcount. A string of Island Park cabins can hold the headcount. Neither one can provide a large commercial kitchen, a single dining area and an exclusive space for kids to play and adults to relax.
Three Peaks Lodge is the option we know best: a private 9,600 sq ft lodge on 100 acres in Saint Anthony, exclusive to one group, sleeping up to 40. Ten themed bedrooms, a bunkroom with eight bunk beds that sleeps 16, six bathrooms, and a commercial kitchen. Infants under two are not counted in that 40.
Four Ways Groups Try To House A Reunion
A hotel in Idaho Falls or Rexburg wins on airport math, but loses on everything else. Everyone has a key and a different floor. The reserved room ends at nine, and the cousins go back to scrolling.
Cabins near Island Park or West Yellowstone put you close to the reason you came and far from each other. One cabin with a small kitchen is your best option for cooking. Someone spends the trip driving back and forth to get takeout.
A handful of Airbnbs feels flexible until a host cancels or the sofa bed is the plan for grandma. One private lodge is the other trade: you drive to Yellowstone or the dunes, and you come home to a house that still has your name on it.
The Only Comparison That Survives The Group Text
Before anyone forwards a listing, write down the same three answers for every place. How many people sleep in one building? Is the property yours alone? What is the nightly rate for the whole stay, not the teaser room?
Kid space and parking belong on that page too, but they aren't the decision. A bouldering wall doesn't fix six kitchens. At Three Peaks the playrooms, the pond, and the acreage are what you do after the beds are already solved.
Saint Anthony Is The Base Camp, Not The Postcard
Island Park is about 30 minutes north. Rexburg, the grocery stop, is about 15. Idaho Falls airport is about 45. Grand Targhee and Kelly Canyon are each about an hour. Yellowstone, by way of West Yellowstone, is about 75 minutes depending on the entrance and the season. The Saint Anthony Sand Dunes are about 15. You sleep in one place and day-trip the thing you flew in for.
If the group needs to be inside the park gates at bedtime, stay in the park and accept the split. If the reunion has to survive the drive home, the lodge is the venue.
Price Is Part Of The Venue
The whole lodge runs $900 a night on fall–spring weekdays, $1,100 on those weekends, $1,400 on the listed holidays, and $1,800 in the summer window on the rates page. Three-night minimum. A $1,000 deposit holds the date. At 40 people, that weekday night is $22.50 a person before food. Put that next to eight hotel rooms before you decide the lodge is the expensive option.
